My Geometry Search
I brought my sunglasses and a small bottle. I brought my sunglasses because is cut cut them in half, it will be the same on both sides. This is called reflectional symmetry. My other object is a small bottle. I brought this because on the bottom of it, it is shaped like a hexagon. A hexagon has six sides, which makes it a polygon.

Jenny's Geometry Search
Object One (symmetry):
I found a star shaped, it has 5 sides. This object has a symmetry called a "5-sided rotational symmetry". You can rotate it five times and it will look exactly like your previous or next turn when turning the object. However it is really cool because no matter what you do to the star, its still looks the same.
Object Two (polygon):
My second object is a computer screen is It is also known as a reflectional symmetry, because if you make a line symmetry on the computer screen. It is a shaped of a square, however there are 4 sides and corners. You can also see different symmetry. At least there are more than 3 sides and it is connected it is an polygon.

Geometry Search
What I brought were a T-shirt and a screw. The T-shirt has reflectional symmetry because when you draw a line in the middle of it, it reflectS and two sides are equal. The next object is a screw, it is a 6 sides polygon, which mean it is a hexagon, but it is a special screw. Inside the hexagon, there have a cross inside the circle. The circle is a shape and the cross is a 4 fold rotational symmetry.
Geometry Search
what i brought to was a bandanna and that it had a 4-fold symmetry and it's also reflectional and rotational for it still looks the same after turns and also a polygoan adn also a square. The second item was from Mr. Grebe's room since its on a poster in his room and it had spirals on it and it has only reflectional symmetry.
Geometric Search
My first object is my binde. It is a reflectional symmetry. When you cut it horizontally it looks the same on both sides. My second object is my eraser. It has 6 sides to it and is a polygon.

For my reflectional symmetry object I brought a star. It has 5 sides to it. If you fold it in half the points would exactly coincide.
For my 5 fold rotational symmetry object I brought the top of a hair chopstick. Every 36 degrees it turns it looks the same because it has rotational symmetry.

Geometric Search
The object I got was a color pencil. If you draw a line in the middle it would be called a line of symmetry. It would be called that because both of the sides look the same.
The object I got for a rotational symmetry is a 4-sided blank piece of paper. Everytime you turn it it would look the same.

Geometry Search (Entry 2)
For my reflectional symmetry, I took a picture of my church like pencil holder. When you take a mirror and put it on the middle of the church pencil holder then it'll look the same as the other side.
For my polygon, I took a picture of the back of my pencil holder that looks like a church. It is a pentagon that is five sided.

Geometry Search
For my reflectional symmetry I brought a rectangular eraser. It has reflectional symmetry because it is the exact same design when you fold it in half. The sides coincide.
I brought an unsharpened pencil for my hexagon because it has 6 even points.
I also brought a bottle of water because on the bottom it has 5 even sides.
For my rotational symmetry I brought a bottle cap because you can spin it in any direction and it would look the same.

Geometry Search
For my first object, well I couldn't actually bring it in but it was a full basketball court. If you put a mirror in the middle of the court, it would look the same. Or if u took a picture of it and observed it, you would see that both sides looked the same. My second object was the back of a stop sign, it has an eight- fold rotational symmetry. If you rotated it 8 times it would look the same.
Geometry Search
The object i found form my reflectional symmetry are my glasses, if you take an mirror and cover half of it and look into the refection of my glasses it looks the same.
For rotational symmetry i found a hexagonal box, if you rotate it 90 degrees it looks the same and if you keep rotating it 90 degrees it looks the same.

For my reflectional symmetry object I brought a butterfly eraser. It has reflectional symmetry because it is a design that you can fold a line of symmetry through and the points will exactly coincide.
For my rotantional symmetry object I brought a bracelet. It has a five fold rotational symmetry. Every 36 degrees I turn it it looks the same.

Geometry Search
The first object i found is my protractor. It has reflectional symmertry. When you draw a line down the middle it look the same on both side.
The second object i found is a paper star. It is a pentagon and it has five sides. It has both rotational and reflectional symmetry. It also has 5-fold rotational symmetry.

Object One:
My first object is a house-shaped block. It looks like a mini house and it is red. It has reflectional symmetry because you can split it in half an the pieces would look the same. It is plain and has no other color beside red so that makes it simple and clean to have pieces both look alike.
Object Two:
My polygon that I chose is a permanent marker cap. The cap has eight sides so it is an octogon. It is colored black and small in shape but big enough for you to see the sides that it has.

The first object I found was my sunglasses. The sunglasses has reflectional symmetry because when you put a mirror down the center of the sunglasses, the reflection looks exactly like the other part, which appears like a whole sunglasses not half.
The second object I found was my clay pentagon. It has 5 sides and is made out of blue sculting clay.

Geometry Search

I have found a Mahjong tile (left) and a crystal (right) for my Geometry Search. My majong tile has nine dots. One row of three blue dots, a row of three red dots, and a row of three green dots on a white surface. The mahjong tile has 4-fold rotational symmetry. I found a crystal "structure" in my room. It has 6 sides on the top and bottom. Each face is rectangular with two slanted triangular sides that have reflectional symmetry.
Geometry Object Description
My first object is a my little brother's Hamtaro pillow. It's like a little wiener pillow but with a picture of Hamtaro right in he middle. This pillow is reflectional symmetry because if you split the pillow right in the middle of Hamtaro's face you would have two pieces that look just alike. Just say that you had a pillow that had a picture of you and you split it right in the middle. What would you get? You would get two equal and similar pieces. My second object is a stop sign right in front of my house. It has six sides and six corners.
Geometry Search
My first object of a rotational symmetry and it is a circle like object and is made of twig. When it is divided in half there will be two part that looks the same. My object for a pentagon would be a flower. It has 5 paddle on it.
Geometry Search (Entry 2) Description
Students will find two objects. You may not use the same object as another student (first come first served!).
For this assignment, write one paragraph describing your objects. Please follow the guidelines below.
Object One:
Has either reflectional or rotational symmetry.
In your blog posting please describe what kind of symmetry your oject has (reflectional, bilateral, 4-fold rotational etc.)
Object Two:
Is a polygon with 5 or more sides (pentagon, hexagon, etc.)
In your blog posting please name the polygon you found and how many sides it has.
Places students may find their objects:
1. In math class (room 204)
2. Bring abojects from home
3. Around Oakland High School (so must tell me where to look so I can take a picture of your object.)
Again, you may not use the same object as another student.
This blog post is due the day of the Chapter 0 Test.
